| Description | No prizes for guessing the nationality of the settler who named Belfast after his hometown! The South African Belfasts countryside, with its crisp, clean air, cascading waters, brooding dams and sheep and dairy cows dotting the landscape is a scene of pastoral peace
A mere ninety minute drive from the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungles Pretoria and Gauteng, Belfast is conveniently situated alongside the main highway en route to the world renowned Kruger National Park. The Gateway to Mpumalangas Highlands Meander, the town is a popular destination of fly fishing enthusiasts. Belfast earned its status as Disabled Friendly by ensuring its fishing facilities are accessible to wheelchairs and disabled anglers. With 7 trout stocked dams located within its municipal boundaries, fishing, boating and swimming in Belfast can be a different experience every day of the week. For the water phobic, 4X4 trails, horse riding, hiking trails or spotting any of the approximately 200 species of birds that inhabit Mpumalanga, are worthwhile alternatives. Or visit Belfast just to witness the incredible sight of the daffodils and tulips that bloom here in profusion every September. Belfast is also in the centre of all the chrome and nickel mines, for the contractors that needs to stay as if they are at home. |
